About Checklist of Certificates
Purpose
The structured Checklist of Certificates has been developed to assist Chartered Accountants in preparing and issuing certificates with due professional care. It aims to strengthen consistency, quality and compliance in certificate issuance by reinforcing the importance of proper planning, documentation, scope clarity and adherence to ethical and professional responsibilities in accordance with the Guidance Note on Reports and Certificates for Special Purposes (Revised 2016).
Framework of Checklist
The Comprehensive Certificate Checklist comprises the following sections:
- Index – Facilitates overview of each Certificate issued with specific tracking of UDIN generated and invoices raised, ideal for Peer Review.
- Section A – Applicability – Helps determine which Standard/Guidance Note is applicable to the engagement.
- Section B – Procedure Checklist – A structured procedural Checklist covering engagement quality control, planning, reporting, etc., with references to the relevant paragraphs of the Guidance Note.
- Section C – Completion Checklist – Sets out the essential components of the Certificate and supporting documentation to be retained.
Important Professional Consideration
This Checklist is intended to serve as an illustrative guidance tool & should not be regarded as a substitute for the Guidance Note on Reports and Certificates for Special Purposes (Revised 2016), applicable standards, laws, regulations, contractual requirements or the exercise of professional judgement.
